I'm not sure why the national media has all but ignored what has been going on in mid TN and surrounding areas since Saturday, but we need to get the word out. If you are not aware, the massive rains began on Saturday and did not stop until Monday morning. And I mean massive. What we normally get all summer is what we got over the past weekend. My family was one of the more fortunate ones who did not have house damage and did not lose power. But we have many, many friends whose basements / first floors flooded and some whose houses went completely under, who have lost everything. Most of them did not have flood insurance because they don't live in flood plains and it is so expensive. You can see the incredible footage on any of our local station websites, such as http://www.wkrn.com. I've never seen anything like this in my life. Yesterday I drove by a lake on my way to the relief command center set up by my church. It didn't even dawn on me until later that that lake was actually the soccer field my son used to play on. Several organizations in the area have set up ways people can help. You can find those links on local news websites. I'll include a link to my church website here, where they have started a fund to help those without flood insurance. Like I said, the national media for some reason has not been getting our plight out there, so we're trying to get the word out ourselves to as many as we can.

It's FABULOUS! I love getting e-mail! So far I've heard back from Greg A. Christy B. Blake Seana - but she didn't answer the questions Walter David W. I know I'm missing somebody. I feel like I should be compiling the answers so that at least if we all get together for dinner, I'll know what kind of menu to prepare. I've learned I need to update my contact list!! If you guys are reading this and didn't get the email that Robin's talking about, it was one of those junk e-mail survey things that you send to friends. I got bored the other day and filled it out and then forwarded it on to the few people in my yahoo account that I was pretty confident would not get pissed that I sent them junk mail. Rejection I believed that we were all rejected. I knew that all of you guys were rejected or ignored many times. Yes, it could be extremely humiliating. There was this sister in Christ at church who played the piano, and she was very beautiful. I was extremely hurt when she rejected me. It was humiliating for me. When we asked God to make a relationship work out, many times, His will was different from ours. Well, this was how God answered my prayers. The church pianist went out with someone else. He also played the violin too, and I was super humiliated in front of the whole church because the whole church knew that I liked her a lot. He played the violin with her during worship while I played the violin on the sideline. Was it humiliating? Yes, it was humiliating for me at least. So, why did God let us go through this humiliation? I thought God was trying to teach me an important lesson. When Christ died for us, He was humiliated on the cross. Christ did not deserve that, but He died on the cross for to save us. (Romans 5:8) When I played the violin on stage, I realized how humiliated Christ was. I got to see how big the cross was. (Acts 8:33) So, did God want us to be happy? Of course! (Psalms 37:4) It was difficult to be happy when we got rejected. The hurt was unimaginable for many of us. I am NOT going to tell all of you that God will help us find our left shoe or that God will find someone better. Also, I am NOT going to tell all of you that it is their loss when we get rejected. I believed that God did not want us to be prideful whenever we got rejected, but actually to be humbled in spirit. (Isaiah 5:15) If there was one practical application to our hurt, we could share the gospel to our non-believing peers at work and at school. I believed God let us go through many rejections from our left shoe (opposite gender) because He wanted us to be stronger. God wanted us to share the gospel to the lost. He wanted us to love our non-believing friends. He wanted to help us face rejections in the most unimaginable hurtful way so that we could face rejections from our non-believing friends when we shared the gospel. People, God loves you. He loves all of us. (John 3:16) He wanted you to know how hurt He was when we rejected Him on the cross. However, the application was He also wanted us to evangelize. (Matthew 28:18-20) Was it humiliating for me when the church pianist likes someone else? Yes, it was humiliating. Was it humiliating for me when a homeless bum burned my Four Spiritual Laws tract with a cigarette in front of me? No, it was no big deal. (2 Corinthians 4:8-9) Yes, many non-believers at Irvine, Berkeley, and USC rejected me. Yes, I was rejected when I shared my faith on the Bible to my non-believing friends. Whenever a sister in Christ rejected me, rejection from my non-believing friends did not seem that painful in the big scope of things. Rejection could be very hurtful, but it made me a stronger Christian, a better evangelist, and a better friend. (Hebrew 12:11) Last, even though your non-believing friends rejected you and even though your left shoe rejected you, our Lord Jesus Christ will never reject you. God understood rejection. He was rejected on the cross. No matter how much you hated God whenever you were rejected, God will never reject you. If you praise God and love God, God will never reject you. God loves you even if you stop praising Him for a moment or for a week. He is the God, who embraces people with a lot of weaknesses with a lot of hurt. He is NOT the God, who rejects people. "There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus." Romans 8:1 By the way, 3 or 4 sisters in Christ, who played the piano, did reject me so far. It was a little pathetic. 17 years ago, there was one sister in Christ, who graduated from Julliard Music School as a pianist. Her ex-boyfriend was a violinist. It was so pathetic. God Always Gives a Fish By Joseph Y. Lee I remembered my days in high school when I was drinking 5 cups of coffee a day to keep myself awake. I was studying the verbal section in the SAT during the summer for 2 years in a row for 8 hours per day within every day of the week, and I hated it. I spent 70 to 80 hours studying per week during high school. I prayed to God that I would get accepted to Stanford when I was in high school. Instead, I got accepted to Berkeley. When I was in my high school senior year, I got rejected from MIT, Caltech, and Stanford. It was the biggest disappointment in my life. Despite my disappointments, I was able and manage to get accepted to Berkeley. My father was still very disappointed in me even though I got accepted to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. My father graduated from Seoul National University with a Bachelor's in Chemistry and Nuclear Engineering and from Stanford with a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering. There were only 5 Korean graduate students at Stanford during the 1970's. Almost all of his Korean friends, who graduated from Stanford, were able to send their children to Harvard while the other Korean parent sent their child to Stanford. My father told me that I was the only Korean Stanford alumni child, who did not get accepted to Harvard or Stanford. He told me that I was really an embarrassment to him and our family. I was so incredibly sad. So, I went to Berkeley. When I arrived at Berkeley, there were many homeless people. The city of Berkeley was in decay and was extremely dirty. The campus at Berkeley pales in comparison to Stanford or Caltech. I visited the campuses at Stanford and Caltech, and I knew that both Stanford and Caltech were the better schools. At that time, I really wanted to cry, and I realized that I had really failed. Almost everyone at Berkeley was a reject from Stanford, MIT, Caltech, and Harvard. 90% of the students at Berkeley wished that they got accepted to Caltech, Stanford, and MIT. Yes, Berkeley is considered a reject school when almost everyone at Berkeley wanted to go to an Ivy League school in the US. I went to Berkeley during that time when Berkeley literally lost every football match against Stanford for 4 years in a row. This is a huge embarrassment for the students at Berkeley when everyone at Berkeley hated the people in Stanford, located an hour away from our campus. Whenever I read Matthew 10:8-11, I really thought God gave me a "stone" instead of a "fish." My school at Berkeley is considered as my stone while Stanford is the fish. "For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Or what man is there among you who, when his son asks for a loaf, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, he will not give him a snake, will he? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him!" Matthew 10:8-11 After I graduated from Berkeley, Berkeley ranked 2nd in the world overall in the Times Higher Education Supplement while Berkeley again ranked 2nd in the United States from the Washington Monthly. In the US News and World Report, the engineering physics department at Berkeley ranked second in the US. I was an applied math and physics major at Berkeley. In the US News and World Report, Cornell ranked 1st in engineering physics. All of my idols like Stanford, Caltech, Harvard, Princeton, Yale, and MIT were ranked below my school at Berkeley. Sometimes, we may think that God gave us a stone for every prayer answered with a "no." However, God never gave us a "stone" when we pray. Later, my father apologized to me when he realized that Berkeley is also a "fish." This is very unusual for a Korean father to say that he is sorry. Korean men usually do not apologize to their children when there is an age gap. I was actually thankful to God that I did not get accepted to Stanford because Stanford's tuition costs double what my family paid at Berkeley. This was why we were able to save a lot of money when I went to Berkeley. This was how my family bought our new home in Irvine in October 20, 1995. Yes, God gave my family a present at that day. It was my 5th anniversary when I had accepted Jesus as my personal Lord and Savior. 10 years after I had graduated from Berkeley, Berkeley changed a great deal. Our libraries and classrooms were renovated on the Berkeley campus. There is new park area next to the library where we can enjoy sunshine in warm afternoon during the spring and fall. There is the new Freedom of Speech café next to Moffitt Library. Also, the Berkeley city is becoming more like Palo Alto. I was so jealous of my young alumni peers at Berkeley because the campus at Berkeley is starting to get better than the campuses at Stanford and Caltech! So, you can say that God gave me a fish at half price! In the eyes of the world, Berkeley is a fish even though everyone at Berkeley thinks that our school is a stone. However, there exists an ultimate fish. That ultimate fish is Jesus. The fish of the world is a stone without Jesus as our ultimate fish. Even though you have graduated from Berkeley, MIT, Stanford, Oxford, Seoul National University, KAIST, Korea University, Yonsei University, or Ehwa University, you have only a stone without your Jesus. If you have Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior, then the stone of the world is a fish in the eyes of God. http://www.josephylee.org

The Narrow and Wide Paths Matthew 7:13-14 Hello, I am Joseph Yosuk Lee. In 1994, I graduated from the University of California at Berkeley as a physics and applied math major. In 1997, I also graduated from UCI in the materials science and engineering department with a Master’s degree, and I play the piano and violin. I was very devastated when I was an undergraduate at Berkeley. I realized that I was not as intelligent as I thought, and I had a lot of pride. I was one of the top students at high school. At college, I was average. While I was struggling with a B average, my electrical engineer friend Tony made a 97% on the midterm. I, myself, received a 70% average on that same exam, and even my professor made a mistake in his own midterm. My professor is an intelligent man when he is a physics professor at Cal-Berkeley. Despite this, I felt that Tony could easily surpass him, although Tony was an electrical engineer and computer science major. While I did not have the faintest clue how to solve any of my 7 physics problems, he could easily solve all of the problems in the textbook spending only three hours per chapter. I was very hurt, as well as humbled. I thought that my greatest friends were my GPA, test scores, and professors' recommendations until I met Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ became my best friend and He loved me so much that He gave His life for me. You are My friends if you do what I [Jesus] command. I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I have learned from My Father I have made known to you. John 15:14-15 (NIV) There are many stories of mothers dying while giving birth to their children. There are also many stories of men dying for their comrades in a war by throwing their bodies on top of a grenade. However, Jesus died for sinners like myself, for strangers like myself, and for the rest of us, who are chosen. He did it because He loves all of us as His friends. Grades and academics cannot love you nor I. Only the Lord can do that. I depended so much on my happiness on school that I became miserable when I was not doing well. At Berkeley, I was alone and did not have many friends. I used to believe that school was far more important than family, friends, people, and my own life. I almost wanted to use some illegal drugs so that I could enhance my school performance. When I was at the bottom of my life, I finally accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior during a church retreat at the mountains of Santa Cruz. I gave my testimony about my bitter life telling every brother in a circle that I study a lot and that my parents were disappointed in me when I did not make it to MIT or Harvard. After we left the circle, I talked to my pastor outside in the dark and cried on his shoulders during one Saturday night on October 20, 1990, and he comforted me. After I accepted Jesus Christ, I finally gave up my pride. I really wanted to share my faith with Tony and I realized that it was too late. Tony killed himself by jumping off the Holiday Inn Hotel at Emeryville, California. To this day, I do not know why he did it. All I know is that if I had not accepted Christ, I would have taken my own life. Tony and I took two different paths in our lives. God helped me choose the narrow path while Tony chose the wide and easy path. So I hated life, because the work that is done under the sun was grievous to me. All of it is meaningless, a chasing after the wind. Happy October everyone. Staying busy with work and travel. Just got back from Philadelphia last week from vendor training and was also able to take in a couple baseball games (Phillies and Braves, I know, surprise surprise surprise...) Also spent a few days in New York City last month with the Mrs, who is decidedly not the biggest fan of the subway or the cabs after racing around the streets from Times Square to the Empire State Building in a couple of New York's finest yellow racers and moving through a very warm subway station or two.

Thanks Kahti and everyone for the flame! Since some of y'all asked about this, I'm playing solo shows (greg horne as singer songwriter) on Thursdays in September. The location is Backroom Patio Bar, next door to Patrick Sullivan's, the Old City, Knoxville, TN. The time is a pleasantly early 7-9pm. Well, you should all be happy to hear the flame will now be kept alive for at least another 5 years! Yup, thanks to the collection by Misty at the reunion and the individual contribution of Bill Zanoni - plus some extra we had left over from the reunion - we now own this website for another 5 years! Christy - I saw him. :-) I think he did a Dateline and a 48 Hours on that case. I'm addicted to those shows. Speaking of murder cases (or alleged murder cases), has anyone been following the Caylee Anthony case (the missing 2-year old)? The mother is a wackadoo and it's driving me crazy that I can't figure her out. And why isn't any of her family calling her on her lies????!!! I'm glued to the television every night at 6 pm to see what new update Nancy Grace has for me. So how did it go Saturday? Any pics for us?

John and Christy, I agree! Let's set something up and make those Oak Ridgers spend some gas money for once! :) We don't have a pool in the yard (why maintain one when our neighborhood association does it for us), but we do have a Wii (with Rockband and Guitar Hero) and various other activities (poker anyone?). Oh, and a pretty kid safe home too if your child is comfortable with stairs. We are in Mt. Juliet which would be halfway between Murfreesboro and the Brentwood/Franklin. Some other names in this area are Karen Reid?, Ed Kozinski, I think? I say let's do it!

I just finished downloading some more pictures. What a GREAT weekend! MANY thanks to so many of you who worked so hard to put this all together. Everyone I tell about it is amazed at all the events we had. It was so much fun to see many of you again. I'm definitely in favor of a 25 year reunion. If you're coming Sat. to the pool party/cook out.... I haven't had a paycheck all summer so..... it's BYOB (we'll have some, but bring what you like), and bring meat for yourself and whoever comes with you - Chris will throw it on the grill and cook it up. Also bring a side OR a dessert to potluck. I'll have all the paper products, non-alcoholic drinks. We'll get started around 4:00 and go however long we want to. So Robin, come when you get off work. We'll just be getting started. We're at 231 Outer. Park wherever you can or pull into the driveway - we can get several cars there. Don't bother with the front door - I won't hear it. Just come on around back. Hope a bunch of you can make it. Chris and I are looking forward to continuing the reunion fun!

Ok, I just deleted the photos that were too teeny-tiny in Album 1 for Saturday night. So you can go ahead and start uploading photos there - it should hold about 78 more photos. Now, if you've got photos where it's just somebody's back and we can't identify who's in the photo or the photos are too dark or you have shots of folks in a really intoxicated state, let's not put those up, okay? ;-) Album 2 for Saturday night is pretty empty so you can start uploading away on there as well.

molly i have a better story for u! me and michelle f. were out at solway and i had to pee and i had borrowed a pair of white pants from her and she was bit***n at me about getting them dirty so i pulled them off and threw them in the car with her, peed out in front of every one, put them back on got to the party at samantha d's and debbie spangler said "do u know that your pants are on wrong side out?" Misty - OMG - I can understand spilling a little red wine but puking on the carpet and pissing on the walls is ridiculous. I hadn't heard about the urination. I think a collective ass kicking is in order. Robin - if I recall correctly, and it's been nearly a year since I've been involved in this discussion, but I think the liquor issue was related to both the cost of the liquor and the liability associated with it. You can get event insurance if you serve wine and beer but the moment you introduce liquor into the equation the price skyrockets. And you know you'll have some people who don't remember the old saying, "Beer before liquor never sicker. Liquor before beer never fear." So, you're running a higher risk of wall-to-wall puke. ;-)

You can add southern GA and anywhere in New Mexico to the list of places never to move to. Okay Walter, did you do anything to shrink the pictures down or did Michelle send them to you that way? If Michelle sent them to you that way, there's nothing you can do about it because if you try to make them larger you'll lose picture quality. If Michelle still has them on her computer or her camera, and she didn't shrink them down (and save them that way), I can work with her on getting them on the site. Let me know. :-)

It was great to see everyone at the reunion. My son really enjoyed the picnic. He tells his friends my mommys school is the wildcats like on high school musical. Walter - I moved some of the photos from the Saturday Night Party over to the picnic album, 'cause it looked like that's where they were taken. I made a new album-Saturday Night (Part II) Also, and I hate to say this because I know it must have taken FOREVER to get those photos up, BUT, I can't see any of them. They're so tiny. And my aging eyes can't take it. The jpegs are 2K and for us to be able to click on the photos and make them larger, we need them to be somewhere around 54 to 60K. Is there any way you can re-size and re-upload them????? I'll take all the small ones off if you can.

It was amazing to see you. Jason Callahan - Excellent crashing opportunity! Thank you for coming. You have always been one of my favorite people I've known. I would like to take a moment to thank all the Spouses and Significant Others that joined us and had a good time. We all know that someone else's class reunion is probably the worst way to spend a weekend. But I just have to say, all the non-Oak Ridge 1988rs - Thank you! Thank you for coming, thank you for talking to us and putting up with our stories, hugs, drinking, and general foolishness. It was just as amazing meeting you as getting to see our classmates. This is to answer Cindy's earlier question and to help Walter before he starts uploading photos. Yes, you can upload multiple photos at once. When you go to the photo albums section and upload photos. You'll select which album you want the photos to go into. Right underneath that is a box, outlined in blue. The first line says "upload multiple photos" click on that and the directions will walk you through it. Let me know if you have problems. By the way, KIM STAFFORD - I heard you were taking lots of photos. I'd like to see them. Get busy!

Chris and I agree! We had a great time - what a terrific party!!! After he went home, he was commenting on people he'd talked to and I was like, "They were there?! How'd I miss that person." He was doing the same to me. Love Misty's idea about a reunion 'reunion." Chris and I have discussed a cookout/swim party at our house. I'm still running on adrenaline and charged to see all the compliments and photos. Kudos to the reunion committee indeed BUT thanks to all who came willing to shake a tail feather and make the evening totally unforgettable! It was wonderful seeing all interact and mingle no cliques, no high school drama just a bunch of us with one thing in common there to have a good time. I've not seen so many folk getting crazy. Jim Felte what a fab tree dance. I knew it wasn't Kaffet from the back(see photo). I know what you're thinkin' but the hair gave it away. Shout out to all the aftergatherers who kept the reunion going until morning! And BIG XOXO's to my man from the class of '88. Too much fun sharing it all with you. I mean the reunion festivities.( I can see Molly smilling right now!)

Ok now it's time to plan a Reunion reunion party where we can all share pics and stories of the reunion. I think Big Ed's and Riverview are both too busy right now to accomodate us. Plus some non-public place would be better to move around and visit with everyone. The picnic at the park was good but "beverages" weren't allowed and I'd say many would prefer that option. I'd say my place but just moved to apt. so it's not near big enough. Any ideas? cook out anywhere anyone?

Molly It's good that you asked. It's s new sensation (no I made it up). I wore a cravat/ascot and took it off and wrapped it around Mindy Myers and danced or something to the effect of dancing. I am an anomoly: A rhythmless brother. Thanks to BeBe Mitchell, I danced more than any time in my life. It's on at the 25 yr bash! A really big thanks to you Molly and to Kahti, Vanessa, Chris Eckerman, Dana, LaDonna, and I know there are others oh yeah, BeBe Mitchell. I had an awesome time! Hey everyone. Man, what an awesome weekend!! Thanks to everybody who helped put it all together. I could tell as soon as I got to the party on Saturday evening that it was going to be a night I didn't want to end. Sunday was tough but well worth the great time I had. ;) Bocephus was definitely right about hangovers hurting worse than they used to. Molly - update on Daniel Burkhardt: he and his mother were in restaurant last week before the reunion and he's not doing very well. He had a very bad seizure about two years ago that has left him in a wheelchair with mental and physical impairments. This is so very unfortunate. Llast I saw him several years ago he was happily working and engaged to be married! Everyone please put Daniel in your prayers! Also... who is Victor Owen? heard the name alot but never saw him nor is he on the alumni page.

I sounds and looks like everyone had an awesome time at all aspects of the Reunion! I really wish I could have gone too! Michele (Upton) Brenner has posted several pictures from the Reunion on her MySpace page, and it looks like Tina Smith made it to the Reunion (& she didn't graduate with the '88 ORHS class either). I would be very intested in the 25 year Reunion - I would made every effort to come if one is planned. It's funny, because my class of '88 in SC also unanimously decided to have Reunions every 5 years now that we're all getting older. I think it's the best plan too! Well people - get those pictures uploaded so those of us who couldn't make it, can see everyone! Heather (and everyone) I won't be in for the reunion so please, please, PLEASE take lots of photos to share and upload on the photo album. Karen - yup, I've been drawing for years. Sold my first "master piece" for a whole nickel right off Tiffany Yeatman's front porch. :-) And if you ever came into National Video (I know your cousin John (??) came in all the time), I was usually drawing. Oh, and another National Video memory - Daniel Burkhardt and Greg Gillis were always coming in right before closing time to screw me up on my drawer count. I can't count and have someone counting aloud at the same time. It took me FOREVER to close up - that is, until I finally wised up and started locking the doors when I saw them coming. :-) Ah, good times, good times. I miss those two a-holes.

Molly, Your writing is always entertaining, but this is the first time I have checked out the coloring pages. Are you drawing those yourself? I can do a lot of creative-type stuff with a computer, but never could draw, paint or sculpt anything to save my life. Very impressive! We never could figure out what was going on with that stupid woodpecker. We tried setting a large stuffed animal in the window like a scarecrow, but that didn't work. Still not sure if he was seeing a reflection of the tree behind him or seeing bugs on the window or what. It went on for about a week and then he decided to move on, I guess. What I left off at the beginning of that video was my "Dragnet"-style intro that told the story. We woke up very early one Sunday morning to what sounded like someone trying to break in the garage. We went down together to check it out, but I made hubby go on in while I waited on the steps with "9-1-" already punched in the phone. Then Bill called out, "You've got to come see this!" I couldn't resist setting up a video camera the next couple of mornings to catch it all on film, but then I was ready for it to stop...we are NOT morning people and that dumb bird was starting to drive us crazy!

ORHS Golf Tourney Friday morning ORCC Things look good for the golf tourney Friday-I think we have 25-30 people signed up and if you have not it is not too late! The first tee time is 8:51 am- and goes until complete- The cost is $55 and includes golf, cart, beer, and lunch-we will have extra spots and every level of play is welcome to join-I suck but have a lot of golf balls to send into the woods- Most folks will need to arrive about 8 am so we can get them signed in and get them carts and practice balls- If you have a small cooler feel free to bring it-because there will be other members on the course we were going to stash our drinks at the first hole and the 10th- If you have not RSVPed you still can by dropping me a quick line-it will only serve as a heads up to ORCC but will not obligate you by any means-we just want to give them an idea about how many of them to expect- Looking forward to seeing all of you this weekend- Matt O

Just one more thing - to all those in our class who would like to come but are feeling hesitant about coming solo - please be assured, there are plenty of others coming solo (whether by choice or by circumstance) and I guarantee that if you come to the reunion - you will definitely not feel ALONE! And anyway, it's really just about seeing people who shared a similar path with you 15 or 20 years ago - no matter the many different paths we have gone down the 20 years since leaving high school - we all share the similar experience of living in Oak Ridge and being WILDCATS - and for just two nights - we get to feel really young again and be surrounded by the people we spent our silly, youthful days with! Christy - Speaking of creditors, I was talking to one of my girlfriends in co and she was telling me about how owning one little rental property screwed up her credit. Check this out - she bought this little rental, the lender sold the loan and sent the paperwork to the rental address (not my girlfriend). She was late on the payment ONCE because of this mix up and EVERYTHING SHE OWED WENT UP. Not just the loan she had on the house, but credit cards, insurance, EVERYTHING!!!! She was paying $2000 a month interest only on credit cards. She wrote the creditors and some have refused to settle the account or lower the rate so she has STOPPED PAYING. She's a single mom and has looked at bankruptcy - she can't sell her house because she's upside down on it. It sucketh a lot! So yeah, if I have credit to give - I'll be happy to share (any kind of credit). :-)

hello all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I haven't been on here in a while. How is everybody doing? I am doing great! I have been taking care of the crumb snatchers(kids), work...that sort of thing. One month till the reunion. WOW! hey Tommie Rice...are you guys still interested in a lake day instead of golf?? Not that golf is a bad thing..I just tend to try to bust the cover off the ball which almost always leads to my ball landing in the woods. I'd rather wake board. That way when I do screw up i'll land in water. Let me know if you're still interested. Also to everybody out there. Seana Lammers has indicated to me that she might not show up in July. Hmmmm....maybe we as her classmates need to encourage her to come. My idea is to send her as many e-mails as possible on her blackberry. Hello ORHS people, I am so busy at work. It is not so funny. I have to publish a bunch of papers in one year, which will make working at ORNL a joke. I am asking myself why I am working in South Korea, where people in Korea are working 11 hours per week more than the average American in the US. Sorry for not being so cheery. I have to rejoice that God is in control of my life. If it weren't for Jesus, then I probably would have killed myself years before I came to Korea. I love to write research papers because I am learning so much when I am working in the Samsung company. If you knew what is going on in North Korea, then you will find work at Samsung paradise. People in North Korea probably will work half my salary with double the work load at Samsung. Work at Samsung is a privelege when we make cell phones, HDTV's, and ships. We interrupt... Well, looking around, not much of anything right now... for a couple pieces of local news for far flung double eights. There were a few photos of the almost completed auditorium (now being referred to as the Performing Arts Center). Looks good to this point. The sound system has not been installed yet, however once it is, the guy doing sound for Masquers will be very happy that there's soundproofing installed now so the acoustics will be a million times better than it was when we were there (did I say a million? I meant a billion). Even after all these years it is still hard to beleive that Christy is gone. Not a single day goes by that I don't miss and think about her. She was a special person who never failed to make me smile every day. So this sucks bad. I got hit by some jackass in a Volvo wagon on Feb 24th, while out riding my chopper. What started as an awesome day very quickly turned to total shit. Long story short: severe dislocation of right foot, broken tibia and fibula, reconstructive surgery, 12 screws, 8 of them holding a plate on fibula, out of work for the last 5 weeks, still recovering as I write. Oh yeah, and my bike is junk. Here's the part that affects ya'll, my former classmates. With this huge loss of work time, I won't be able to make the reunion. When I'm healthy enough to work again, hopefully soon, I'm gonna have to work 7 days a week to try to catch up. So, I miss you guys, and I'm super pissed that this happened. Do me a BIG favor though, when you're out driving, remove the blinders that cause most folks to only look for cars on the road. Take an extra second or two to REALLY look for us dirtbags on bikes. We'd appreciate the effort!! If anyone wants to see the damage, check out www.myspace.com/jimmitheboot, and have a look at my pics. Robin: I remember them all! I always remember getting to school and having to sit against the wall in gym before school and Mr. Sutton would stand in the middle of the gym. On rainy or cold (or both) days he'd always wear a dark overcoat and when the bell rang, he'd look around and the side that was the quietest, he'd point to and they could take off for class. I also remember Mr. Kitts and Mrs. Hamrick. Had them both and I remember Mr. Kitts sitting in the bathroom next to the cafeteria for a LONG time. I really liked all of my teachers through the years there. Anyone remember Mrs. Fox the music teacher? She won Tennessee Teacher of the Year one year and I remember being in music class when Channel 26 came in to tape a segment with her. First time I got on TV, sitting in my chair, looking up at the clock as the camera panned in my direction just so I could pick myself out on TV. Sister: Nice hearing from you and I understand about that completely. We'll have to make April one to remember!

Hey Lis - You know it's funny, the other day we were coming back from our trip and Mike decided to take a "short-cut" - through a mountain pass. A dirt road. In the snow. In my minivan. That was -mountain pass, dirt road, snow, minivan (and one seriously pissed-off Molly). Now, those of you who know me, know there's no way in hell I'm going to let that go. So every few minutes I'm like, "We're 'bout an hour and a half into your short cut, how much longer do you think it's going be? What's that ahead, ah nevermind, it's a dirt road. Hey kids, I spy something muddy and dangerous."Dirt Road." "Correct!" "I spy something long, narrow and unending." "Dirt road." "Correct!" "I spy something doing serious damage to the undercarriage of my car." "Dirt road." "Correct!" "Hey, Mike, Do you think if the guys in Deliverance had cell service, things would have worked out differently for them?" Then I started humming the song in Deliverance. My point is, sometimes you adore your spouse, sometimes you ponder where to hide the body. Good to hear your shovel is still in the shed. :-)

Christy and Misty-How does April 12th sound for the minireunion. Keith and I are up for it again and to host the aftergathering. Greg-Elementary School teachers? I moved to OR in '83 from a Valley in CA so it was really a blast steppin' in as the new girl with my miniskirt and fashions that woudl just hit OR a season or two later. Since my parents were raised in East TX it wasn't the culture shock one might expect. I love being a TN girl and claim this as my home. My hubster went to EVERY elem. school in OR at one point or another. His family spent a lot of time trying to make ends meets and his parents divorced during that time so his school experience would make anyone say bless your heart. Guess that's why he walked the wilder side later. There were lots of East Village friends who roamed the neighborhoods with him and speaks of them often.

We didn't have too many other subs really - there was your mom (who I remember as just being pretty laid back and fair) and Mrs. Clou-(as in what a detective uses)-ti (as in the tea you drink)-air (as in the air around you) - no joke, that's how she used to explain how to say her name!

Reading the comments from Kim about Missy Lamon and Christy Matina brought back some memories. It's funny that I didn't even graduate in '88 but I know so much about you guys from back in the day. Christy's dad worked with my dad, and Missy's mom played softball with my mom. Missy was always a talker, but she really was nice. And Christy was nice too. I got sad at the mention of her because I remember so well the accident that took her life. Her dad was the actual police officer that took the calll that night, not knowing it was his daughter. That was so tragic. What year did that happen? Was it her senior year? I'll never believe that anyone was as scary as Mary Jo Mullins when it came to being a bully! HA! Where is everybody? You guys just don't talk like you used to. And hello! When do you do the webcam chat? I have looked several times. I know Molly has been out of town, so maybe you guys just haven;t been there because of that. Hey Greg! Does Linden still have the "dips?"

What was St. Mary's? I've not heard anyone mention WillowBrook! I loved that school. Joan Vicary was the greatest teacher ever!! She was the reason that I decided to go into teaching. She made a tremendous difference in my life, and I always said that even though there was no money in being a teacher--if I could make the difference in a child's life then it would all be worth it! I also loved my speech teacher-Lana Seviers!-(she is the school comissioner now in Nashville) but I really could say "Sally sits outside in the grass" but pretended that I couldn't so I could get out of class to go see her! And OMG! Mrs. Wisehiegel!--she called my mom everyday because I hid under the piano and wouldn't come out! She was so scary!! Lou Volk, and Mr. Gentry the gym teacher rocked!!

Oh yes Kahti, I remember very well!! i went for most of 8th grade!! I had a BLAST too! I hated riding the bus...that was when Missy Lamon and Christy Matina would call me a "St. Mary's fairy". I was so scared of them but someone told me they were all talk. So one day on the bus I turned around and one of them said "What are you looking at?" and I casually said "Not much." and the next thing I knew they were both in my face saying "What did you say?". Of course, I freaked and said "Nothing!! I didnt say ANYTHING!! REALLY!" hahaha! I walked to school for a month after that!! We later all had a good laugh about it and got over it and had a few good moments in highschool. I loved St. Mary's though!! It was the first time I had ever heard a teacher cuss and the kids were SO BAD!! I remember laughing SO HARD in the library with Mary Hermosillo and Cary (?) that I had to go to Sister Camille's office. Where she told me I had to remove my Duran Duran pins from my jeans because I was causing boys to sin! Ha!! I truly had a blast at that school though!! A shout out to all the "St. Mary's fairies"!!!

You know, there was another elementary school that no one else has mentioned yet where some of us were forced to do our time - St. Mary's!! Kim - you were there for 7th and 8th grades - right? I think Amy O'Rourke was there for those years too. I myself did almost a full tour - 2nd through 8th grades. So did Tricia Spisak, Lil Gomezdelcampo, Dan Kearney, James Mulvenon, Dave Steger, Cathy Luttrell, Kate Friar, Joe Parks, Robert Skeen, Dan Piotrowski and Mark Stewart. Others who just "passed through" for a year or two included Ben Nemec, Ed Kosinski, Renee Kuneman, Elaine Wolfe, Randy Bedard, Angie McClain - maybe others?? I don't know, it was soooo long ago. I remember we used to have to take the bus to either Robertsville (for us west enders) or Jefferson to ride home with the rest of you guys - I was always sooo shy and intimidated - felt like a MAJOR freak!

I moved to Tennessee in 6th grade..half a year. So, I only had one teacher at Cedar Hill and I can't remember her name. I will say this though...I remember Heather Nappo and Leslie Chapman had very long brown hair back then and I got them confused but they were so sweet and showed me around and I wished I had hair just like theirs. I just came "home" for the weekend and seeing where Cedar Hill USE to be was kinda sad. I use to live right across the street from the school and have so many memories...the "wooden structure" in the back, the rocks down in the woods, Randy Bedard and Danny Newport climbing on my roof to get a wallet(?), Missy Lamon and Christy Matina playing on the playground, sneaking into the school when it was boarded up with David Hill!! Now it is all gone...so I cant tell you who my favorite teacher was...but I remember all of you guys and the fun we use to have at Cedar Hill!!

Hear you guys loud and clear, Walter and Erin! It's an election year, so of course I would endorse Walter Rooks for President of anything. However, my endorsement isn't worth the paper it's printed on, so it's probably not the thing to trumpet in the local paper. Okay, time to bring up a question for my fellow classmates, because, well inquiring minds want to know. Some have already mentioned this, but I'm curious. Who was your favorite teacher in elementary school? It's a really tough call because I had some good teachers at Woodland (mind you, this is not a paid endorsement). But Mrs. White (PE) wins in a close, close race. I was one of those that always enjoyed Gym class. End-to-end dodgeball, bittyball, whiffleball. We had some classic games in the 'ol Woodland Gym. I ran into her about 12-13 years ago at Kmart. She mentioned to me that she remembered me to be a tremendous athlete, and I was stunned. Honestly. There were a lot of great athletes that went to Woodland and were in the Class of '88. Jaime Redmond, Scott Crisp, Derrick Golden, Mark Langenburg, Matt Walker until he moved to Glenwood, Shane Moore... I was just trying to keep from tripping over my feet most of the time and anything else was a bonus. I was scared to death of heights at that age, so climbing those ropes to the gym ceiling was right out the window. Mrs. White was great. So was Coach Brown. I think back to those days and always smile.

BBQ, Dwayne getting asked out of a fishing tournament for going 30 feet to out catch everyone, Michael does not under any circumstances guarantees his yard work, Ken was an Alabama fan for Halloween one year (quite comical, always love hearing him tell it), Keith and Dana met at Proffitts and the rest as they say was history, Misty can very accurately diagnose AC/heat issues with automobiles (it harkens her back to her HVAC background), Cricket not too long ago ran into Coach Voskamp and reports he's STILL exactly the same, Scott has no idea where his back property line is and doesn't want to rappel down the hill behind his house to check it out and Chris Keever lost to Tag Groff in checkers. Oh, and the final four as Misty puts it found out who my elementary school crush was... Just blurted it out folks, and I was sober. Scary. Keep Christy Buck in your thoughts and prayers, her concert was canceled, however she was not able to swing by because her husband had to go to the hospital with problems breathing. Hey guys! It was really nice seeing Greg, Ken, Scott B., Cricket, Carmichael, Michael, Misty and Keever at the homefront lastnight. Carmichael kept us rolling with fishing stories! Not sure if a few more came for the BBZ dinner. Heard it was great but I was homebound with sick child. Thanks for bringing the gathering my way and for staying up wee hrs with the hubster. My nurse mother role called for a midnight story and snuggle so I exited early. Probalby a good thing since I've got a soccer game today and am coming out of retirement today. We missed seeing Christy and Brian. Hope Christy Buck's Charlie is feeling better in Nashvile, Ginge-Keith didn't get to play you any KISS and rock out, Eric-we didn't have any cop stories but your tv debut was spoken of often. Angie where were you? Wonder where TJ Parirish and some of the other folk are who attended the Big Ed's events previously. We'd like ot reconnect with you all too. It was really funny lastnight how some of us would be talking about an event, a fight, a rumor and then a few minutes later the other side of the room would start having the same recollection as if it were something new to talk about. For the most part our stories were remembered similarly. I better send before this gets lost in cyberspace.

Okay Molly, got a cam the other night but nobody around! Probably a blessing in disguise to be sure. I got a note from Scott Bunton tonight, he and his wife are in. I'm trying to take into account children when I can and so far I have around 13-15 in that neighborhood. The Oak Ridge girls tonight won their first round game against Shelbyville in Murfreesboro. Remember them? Some of you might. Looks like they'll face Wilson Central tomorrow night in the semifinal round. We may be celebrating a state championship for the girls at the 'ol Alma Mater which would be ironic since this is the 20th anniversary of the '88 state title team.

Well, I have decided that everyone needs to run right out and get a camera. Lisa, Tommy and I had ours on last night. Greg A (aka bandit) and Melanie were there as well (though sans camera). For a brief moment, folks got to see the comic stylings of my son, Matthew, performing something he likes to call "dancing." What they did not get to see was my precious first born coming over and leaving a few "stink bombs" for me. How delightful. Hello family-- Just got done chatting with Greg, Ken and Tommy. Christy Neal what happened? you dissapeared??? I'm so glad that you've run with the mini reuinion planning since I'll be absent. I've been honored to pull together the last three but it's great you guys have picked up the ball this month. I wish I could be a part and willl really hate not being there, but other obligations have crossed my schedule. Each year I work a booth at the Winter Jam Concert at Thompson - B Arena for an organization called Holt International. They work to care for displaced children in third world locations. and need people to sponsor the kids . I have a couple of kids in Uganda that I get regular reports on and it's soo cool to see how their lives are improving with the help of this organization. So I count it and honor to work the booth and help others get matched up with a child for them. If you want more info on this, send me a note or give me a call. Got a joke for you...... There were these two housewives that went out on the town for a girls night out. After dinner, they began drinking and talking--completely forgetting what time it was. After one bacardi breezer too many, they both decided that they were too intoxicated to drive home, so they thought it would be best to walk home. As they were walking home they both needed to pee, but knew that there was no bathroom to be found. They came up on a cemetary, so they just wandered into it to find a place to pee. The one girl just used the panties that she was wearing to wipe with, but the other girl said her panties were way to expensive, so she chose not to use hers for that purpose. After looking around she noticed that the grave behind her had a fresh bouquet of flowers with one of those ribbons attached, so she just removed the ribbon to wipe herslf. They made it home all safe and sound, but were still very hung over the next morning. The one husband called up the other husband and said that he didn't think letting the girls go out for these girls nights out were such a great idea and that he was starting to fear the worse. He said that his wife had come home with no panties on. Well, the other husband said that that wasn't anything-- said that his wife had come home with a note attached to her butt that read, "From all the guys at the fire department we will never forget you!"

Misty-March 8th was the only night good for us to host! We look forward to tasting this BBQ that we keep hearing about! I've got a coed soccer game on Sunday and have been out for rehab the last several seasons. Thought I better get out there and play before I have to retire. K will kill me if I get hurt b/c we're taking our 8 yr.old up to Mt. LeConte for her first time end of March. Weather this weekend brought glorious days...playihg with our new lab, cleaning the bass boat for fishing season and playing rolly bat with the kids. These are the best years of my life. I just wish I could still do cherry drop and death circle on the playground bars...believe me if you were at Woodland anytime lately you may have seen me trying. Loved how so many of you took in what I said about 20 yrs. peeps and bigones! It great to hear the positive feedback.

I wrote this the evening after the first Big Ed’s gathering…Last night I ventured out alone on cough syrup to meet several classmates at a local pizza place. It was a science experiment for me to see and talk with alumni from the class of 88. I knew only three or four people there and considered them at best acquaintances back in high school. I sat with a couple of men to whom for the most part were in the same boat as I, not really knowing the people that they had come to reconnect with. Everyone was kind and the experiment proved to be somewhat enjoyable. It’s funny when I think about how young we truly were at the age of 18. No one looked quite the same and seemed to have matured well in every way. There is something to be said about 30-something-year-olds and appearances, wisdom and grace. I think it’s a good decade for the majority of us. Age looks wonderful and the knowledge and the wisdom that the years bring is not only a good thing, it makes for the best years of our lives. I know who I am, my challenging life has been so good for me and I wouldn’t change a thing. So glad I went tonight!

Another thing distracting me this time of year is baseball and spring training. I'm on-call right now, but should be able to make dinner on the 8th barring a phone call on Saturday from work. My peeps! Rest assured, I have not left you. I don't quite the access I used to -My son has managed to mess up our home computer once again. He's very gifted when it comes to circumventing virus protection and internet locks. I pop in here on occasion whilst at work (you like that? whilst - very fancy. very la-ti-da). But you guys are gonna to have to pick up the pace. I need to be entertained, people. I need intrigue, drama, comedy. Make me laugh. Reveal something about yourself. Tell me what one thing did you learn this week that surprised you? And it could be about anything. For me, there was an episode on Oprah about freegans. Perfectly normal people who go dumpster diving for food, furniture, etc. They pay maybe $40 a month for groceries they don't find in the dumpsters. $40 a month!! Is it weird that I'm thinking, hey, that dumpster diving sounds like a pretty good deal? I mean I'm cheap, I just don't know if I can bring myself to be THAT cheap.

Molly, you've obviously not heard the whole story from the girls yet. There was one horse that was a little spunky. They asked this boy(isn't it funny how after you turn 36 people in their twenties turn into boys and girls!) in our group if he had ever ridden before. He lied and said yes. We got halfway up the mountain and his horse went apesh*t and tried to kill me and Christy!! He had no clue what to do except for cuss (according to my 12 year old). Anywho...it was an experience fo sho! By the time we got to the Old Tyme photo place we were feeling like real cowboys and cowgirls! Greggie Poo! I think you should be the next American Idol. I would vote for you. I'm not too impressed with any of them on there this season, but I do think the rocker that used to tour with crazy Brittany has a chance. I'm very interested in knowing,however, how you can be eliglible for an "amatuer" singing competition when you've toured with a singer whose so big she can stick her tongue down Madonna's throat on national tv and get away with it. Seems a bit unfair don't ya think?

I got thrown from one back in the day and now they scare the beegezus out of me. So good luck getting me on one. Eric A - you are the bomb! I finally got to see the show and I thought you were great!!! I think the show could have used more of you - you know, if they wanted to make it even more compelling. That guy was a total sleazebag. I love how he changed to lawyer-speak once interviewed by 48 hrs - "yes, I introduced the drugs to her, but it was up to her to get off them." And his name is spelled "Christ?" That's rich. If anything ever happens to me, ya'll better call in Eric. Just wanted to let everyone know.... The chat room works like a charm! Thanks Molly. Wow! Took me along time to read everything from the last week. Think I got the jest of it though. Ken misses his Woody- Molly's Baby Daddy is coming home! Woo-Hoo!! (you go girl!) Jimmi- if you have Quizno's out there, they make a mean Broccoli Cheddar Soup to hold you over until you get home. Ginger + Erin- Happy late Bday. I will give you your spankings later. I heard what I thought was a sonic boom last week. Now it seems it was Christy's head popping over that comment by Jimmi that she's aways the voice of reason. (what a crock!)=) My children hae reached an age where they just adjust to the fact that Aunt Christy and I are Old School rocker's from back in the day and the more they complain, the more I will humiliate them in pubic. They've mainly accepted this and choose to rock out with me! I am burning Cameron CD's for Valentine's Day cuz we spend so much time apart(and so much time traveling to each other) so if anybody hears or thinks of a great Love ballad , song, whatever, lemme know so I can include it. Christy- most of the time the voices in my head are Madea, but at other times that evil Respucha takes over. (I think I was a Mad Black Woman in another life) I am now going onto the girls' myspace to check out Tasha's page. Check your email and find that picture of Greggie-poo so you can post it.

Here in West Nashville, we "went camping" in our basement last night. My son was greatly disappointed when I told him the camping was over this morning. We didn't get much sleep with the weather radio and tornado sirens going off all night, but we are all okay with no reported damage here. I'm afraid several other places across the state, particularly west of us, didn't fare so well. Union University in Jackson had several dorms completely demolished, and at one point they were reporting grapefruit-sized hail in Memphis. 52 reported deaths across the South so far; nearly half of them were in TN. The scary thing is, we haven't even begun the real tornado season yet...

Crickett sorry but i cant do 10:00. talk about your grandma fallin asleep, im out by 8:30, 9 is pushing it for me. Getting up at 6 kicks my ass. sorry. Ken i know what u r talking about with the tornadoes. I lived in middle Tn. when i was a kid. I have seen the aftermath of tornadoes and it is not pretty. I hate storms to this day. It was horrible. And to all the girls, Im a size 1! I dont know what was wrong with everyones cameras at Big Eds but it just didnt do me justice!

I'm sad to report, Jim, that Woody's is no longer. :( I had fond memories of the place too - from their famous "Woody Burger" to it being the first place I ever swung a golf club. On another note, I hope everyone made it through the storms alright. I always get a little nervous when they start talking about tornadoes popping up, especially after riding one out in a Nashville high rise back in 98...now that was a long day.

Morning gang... Noisy morning in the Ridge with the thunder and lightning and heavy rain and as I sit in my little cube in West Knoxville it's coming down buckets right now. I'm on the phone with other engineers in Chicago and Madison WI and they're getting snow. That about does it for Greg's Weather Report, sponsored by The Soup Kitchen, Time Out Deli and 1290 W-A-T-O. (Never been confused with David Clary, but I think I could pull that off on the air). Oh, some know and some don't, my mom and Tommy Rice's mom were in the same hospital room when we were born. I escaped first (5/1/1970) and then baked a cake with a file in it for him. Of course, that's where I first got my love for chocolate frosting. yummmmmmmm.

My birthday is 6/8/70 . I actually turned 18 on our graduation day. As for Nick, I know youth is highly prized in Hollywood, but I still choose to believe he was a child genius. :) I spent an hour in my basement as funnel clouds swirled over Chattanooga. It was scary, but we are fine. Everyone else ok?
